Nanny Baby Breathing Monitor (BM-02)
Why Buy The Nanny Monitor?
The Nanny monitor device has been designed so that your baby cannot reach it. This means Nanny cannot be accidentally disabled by your infant.
Nanny ALWAYS alerts you with an acoustic alarm if there is a problem with your baby’s breathing.
Nanny's sensor pad is the largest pad on the market and is 40% larger than the next largest pad on the market. If you wish, you can upgrade your Nanny to use a second sensor pad. Or you may decide to buy a reserve pad to leave with relatives.
Nanny uses standard AA batteries that can be easily replaced when Nanny indicates the batteries are low (usually after 6 months).
Nanny is certified as a medical device and has passed hospital clinical trials.
Nanny is supplied with a 2-year warranty. As far as we know this is the longest warranty on the market.
Nanny has been designed not to use a wireless connection for safety reasons (highlighted in the section above). Nanny's alarm is very loud, but we advise that you check that you can hear the alarm from all the rooms in your house and take the necessary precautions for the rooms that you can't.
The control unit for Nanny has been carefully designed to be clear, quick and easy to understand. There are just three lights. A happy face, an unhappy face and a battery indicator. Simple and uncluttered, that's all you need!
Consider these important facts:
If the monitor is designed to clip onto your baby's clothing.
If your baby can remove his or her own socks(!) then clip on monitors could be at risk from being removed by your baby.
If the baby learns to remove the clip-on device then your baby's breathing is no longer being monitored and could be at risk from SIDS.
Check that the monitor does not have a sealed battery compartment. If it does, then you may be required to return your monitor to the manufacturer for recharging, it is likely you will be charged for this service.
If the monitor is shipped with two sensor pads, you should consider the following; - The size of the pads - Do you actually require two pads? - Are both pads detachable for easy transportation?
Has the breath monitor been certified as a medical device? - Most are not.
If the monitor has not been certified then it will not have been tested in a clinical environment and may not reach important safety standards.
Check the product warranty - Most monitors are supplied with a 1-year warranty, this may reflect the manufacturer's confidence in their product.
If the breath monitor has a wireless transmitter and receiver, you may be surprised that the monitor will probably not warn you if the transmitter is out of range, when this happens your monitor will become ineffective and without your knowledge, your baby will no longer be protected.
If the breath monitor has a wireless transmitter and receiver, check that the wireless connection will not fail if used within buildings that have been constructed with metallic materials (girders, roofs etc).
If the breath monitor has a wireless transmitter and receiver, and your neighbours also own the same model, then it is likely that you will be able to trigger each other's alarm units!
